House
cleaning can get old. We spend all day it seems cleaning, just
to start all over again tomorrow.
Well, I don't know what I can do to make you
like house cleaning, (did you ever consider hiring a maid service?
I can recommend a good one!) but I can give you some tips to help
make this tiresome chore not only easier, but teach you ways to
make all your hard work and labor more efficient.
This should help free up some of your time to
do some of the more pleasant things on your list.
If that list of yours is just too darn long,
you can always give Mrs. Clean a call. We will gladly come in
and take some of the mess off your hands.
Household Cleaning Tips
and Hints from Professional House Cleaners
Make a house cleaning checklist; schedule when
you will clean and then stick to it. The mess will only get worse
the longer you put it off.. There is no rule that says the entire
home needs to be cleaned each time. If you can't bear to do it
all at once, set a schedule and clean the living room on Wednesday,
bathrooms on Tuesdays. and deep clean the kitchen every Friday.
You can also only do one floor at a time.
When you evaluate your home, identify the trouble
spots and purchase any cleaning supplies you need to clean then
up.
Is the tub just covered in soap scum? Make sure
you have the right products you need to take care of the job.

Just using a product
like soft scrub of plain elbow grease will not do a very good
job cleaning this up, so you will get discouraged.
Get help. If there are others living and breathing
in the house with you, who are most certainly contributing to
the mess, get them to help. My favorite is to assign tasks to
each child for a week at time, and then rotate tasks. Or one does
the kitchen and then the other does the laundry, every other day.
Don't forget to throw in deep cleaning items, like cleaning the
pantry, or under the sinks, or doing a really good job dusting
all the surfaces such as picture frames and walls. The kids in
my home like to dust, so hopefully this one won't be to hard to
get volunteers for.
Gather all your cleaning supplies and place them
in a bucket or tote. Don't waste your time running from room to
room with special cleaners or tools. It will end up taking twice
as long. Professional cleaners carry all their tools in one bucket.

The bucket contains;
Glass cleaner, Furniture polish
Disinfectant, Hand scrubbers

Use the right cleaning
product for the surface to clean. If you look in our bucket above
we don't carry a lot of fancy cleaning products. We use the right
product for the job, and most every surface in the home can be
cleaned with just those items listed above
Get good quality heavy duty cleaning products
that are effective on cleaning the job. This also does not mean
that you have to spend a lot of money either, some of the best
cleaning products are very inexpensive. We use a solution of vinegar
and water to damp mop linoleum, wood and vinyl floors. It works
really well and is most likely the lest expensive product for
cleaning available (Other than plain water of course!).
Dump your junk. You really must get clutter free.
This is a hard one. I like stuff too, and since I was raised in
a family of pack rats, this doesn't come naturally to me either.
The room will feel kind of bare at first, but trust me, you'll
get used to it, (you'll actually come to prefer it) and it makes
clean up a breeze.
I've seen houses that were so cluttered, nothing
we did made it really look clean. There were too many piles of
stuff. So dump the old magazines, and remove as much clutter as
possible. Knickknacks are pretty but they really just help allow
dust to easily sneak up on you. |
